On the 06th December we took 98 people to the Bath Christmas market for the day and everybody seemed to have a great day.
The two Shearings coaches arrived in Wallingford at the exact time and place booked and everyone was there waiting in anticipation. It was a cold December morning so we ushered everyone on as quickly as possible. Seats had already been allocated so names were ticked off and everyone got settled in.
Our two excellent drivers, Richard and Sue, welcomed us with smiles and talked us through the obligatory health and safety. It was going to be about a 2 hour journey but the coach was comfortable and the Christmas music put everyone in good cheer.
The drivers got us as close as possible to Bath city centre; in fact we could see the wooden Christmas market huts from where we were dropped off. Everyone went their own way; some to the Christmas market, some to the shops, some to see the sights. However, I think nearly everyone made getting a cup of coffee their first stop!
Bath Christmas market itself was wonderful – 129 wooden cabins selling all sorts of things from fudge and German sausages to silly hats and Christmas baubles. It was spread around several different parts of Bath but mostly around the cobbled streets surrounding the Abbey.
Of course the shopping in Bath is great – all the big names and designer stores to tempt you. I think most people spoilt themselves with a tasty lunch in one of the many restaurants and cafes around the centre before the final bit of shopping before heading back to the coach.
Our drivers arrived promptly and we all climbed on laden with bags, exhausted and happy. A really lovely day out – and not a single person lost!!
